THE AREA

EL Bierzo is a region located in the western side of the Leon province in Spain. It has the Northern Plateau on the eastern side and Galicia on the western side. The region is surrounded by mountains. Because of this reason we have all flight orientations in a small radius. All flight zones are really close to each other. Unless it rains or it is a really windy day, we can fly regardless of in which direction the wind comes from.

There are differences in height from 150m in Almagarinos, to 1200m in San Pedro de Trones. We have all kinds of flight conditions: dinamic soaring in San Cristóbal, good and strong thermals in Gistredo and Guiana, restitution in San Pedro de Trones and convergence flight in Almagarinos on those days that the Bierzo convergence is over there.
